Questions Are Welcome.
Here are the things people often wonder before their first visit. No question is too small or too weirdly specific.
01 Do I need a referral? +
Usually, no. Some extended health plans require one for reimbursement, so it’s worth checking your specific policy.
02 What should I wear? +
Whatever makes you comfortable. Treatment can be adapted to clothing and draping preferences. Your comfort and consent guide the session.
03 What is intraoral massage? +
It is a gloved treatment inside the mouth that may be used for certain jaw muscles. I explain it fully and ask for specific consent before we begin.
04 Does treatment hurt? +
Massage does not need to be painful to be useful. We’ll communicate throughout and adjust pressure or technique whenever needed.
05 Can I use extended health benefits? +
Most extended health plans cover RMT services. You’ll receive a detailed receipt, but please check your plan for coverage limits and requirements.
06 What is your cancellation policy? +
Life happens, and sometimes plans change—I completely understand! I kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This gives me the opportunity to offer the time to another patient who may need it. Your consideration is greatly appreciated, and my appointment book thanks you too!
07 Should I close my eyes during treatment? +
Absolutely! While it's entirely up to you, closing your eyes can help minimize distractions, encourage relaxation, and allow you to become more aware of how your body feels during treatment.
Here's a little secret—I often close my eyes while treating patients, too! It helps me tune out visual distractions and focus more closely on what my hands are feeling, including subtle changes in muscle tension and tissue texture.
So feel free to close your eyes, relax, and enjoy the experience. You might even catch me doing the same—although I promise I'm not taking a nap!
08 Can I talk during intraoral massage therapy? +
Absolutely! You’re welcome to talk during treatment, although your words might come out a little muffled. Communication is always encouraged, especially if you experience any discomfort. Just one small request—please try not to bite my fingers. I still need those for my next patient! 😄
